what is cool about where you live?

Postby teone » Tue Jul 25, 2006 12:45 pm

Ok, I talked about this in guild a week or so ago. We're trying to decide where we want to go for our honeymoon (my dad travels for business all the time and so will cover our hotel and airfare whereever we want to go) and websites aren't so helpful necessarily about cool things to do. So, if you think where you live is cool or have been somewhere really neat that you think we should consider, post below with why and a list of the top 5 cool things to do there :) Just so you don't list things like "good booze" or "good pork" then I don't drink (1/2 a bottle of a Bacardi Silver - malt beverage here in the states so not even real liquer) will put me to sleep at least 8 hours and Michael doesn't eat pork or seafood either; also, I don't each chocolate cept like Reese's peanut butter cups cause I love peanut butter. So anyway, cool lists would be nice :) If time of year makes a big difference it will probably be April/May 2007 and if it's gonna be warm the place has to have air conditioning at least in most public indoor areas :p (neither of us likes it particularly hot).

PS- one more thing, do NOT suggest Vegas - I've already told him no on that one - wtf is it with guys and Vegas ?!

I went to Costa Rica a few years ago and visited Tabacon Grand Spa. It is beautiful. There are many things to do in the area. Visit the rain forest, the Pacific coast, and Gulf coast are not to far away. Check out the following link for information on things to do.

It really is one beautiful area, right at the foot of an active volcano, Arenal Volcano.

I could link some pictures that I took while there if you are interested.

You may want to think about the state of Arizona in 1 week easy u can go to all these places at a comfortable pace and see all u like.

1 petrified forest and painted desert
2 drive over to the north or south ridge of the grand canyon and take a mule ride down to the bottom.
3. drive to lake Havasu City and see the REAL london bridge that they brouhgt over stone by stone.
4. then head over to Sedona to slippery rock . it is a natural creek that is super slippery runs about 300 feet and ice cold mountain water. you can really go fast siding don it
5 then go to old tuscon for an old fashined cowby gun fighting like the OK Corral.

there is your 5 good reasons lol. I can suggest things in a few other countries if u like just depends if u staying in country or headed out.

Well since he'll give us first class airfare anywhere then thinking out of country or at least like Hawaii - can't pass up the free trip to somewhere farther than just inside the states if we can find something cool to do outside :)

I love Vegas eventhough I dun gamble. Their shows are just amazing, and the golf courses there... Umm~ umm!

Maui is a Beautiful small island that is very suitable for a relaxing honeymoon.

New York is nice with all their galleries, museums, Broadway shows and of cuz, SHOPS!

Toronto is da $HIT! for me to say... Nudy bars and massage parlours RULEZ! :p

Quebec City is a very romantic French town, tho' most of the folks there dun speak English.

Drag

I'm not taking him to strip "shows" for our honeymoon - if he wants those he'll have to get private ones from me :p Silly lizzy!

it's not where i live but Europe is awesome. Paris, brussels, Amsterdam(no i didn't go to get high). they are all amazing cities. the eiffel tower, all the different cathedrals and statues and all that good stuff. The louvre, getting to see the mona lisa and other great pieces of art. can't beat it. the lines aren't fun to wait in on some of them. going around europe for 2 weeks were some of my best memories when i graduated high school.

Definatly Sweden. April/May might however not be that hot. But we got a beautiful nature. There are many things you could do here, but not sure what you like. We have the large animal zoo with Safari tour where animals walk freely around your car. There are some old supposed to be haunted houses where you can sleep over and if you make it through the whole night you get a diploma (so I've heard anyway).

We have a lots of old ruins of castles from like 1500-1600 century that you can visit. Loads of different museums. Or if you like you can take a boat trip around the Swedish archipelagio, really beautiful. I also believe it's possible to be skiing if you go up north in Sweden if you come in April since the snow stay longer up north.

Drag had some good ideas. Toronto is much better than just the strip clubs. Think New York City without the crime or attitude. Lots of shopping, lots of shows, lots of tourist attractions, a lot of restaurants, small ethnic villages within the borders, cool museums and a great zoo. More things to do than you could in one week. Also, if you go to Toronto, Niagara Falls is only an hour away which is still billed as the "Honeymoon Capital of the World".

I forgot about Qeubec City. Was there for the first time last summer and it was great. Definitely a romantic town with lots to see and do. Don't worry about the language though, we had no problems with comunicating.

I would also suggest a Carribean cruise but it sounds like you want to go further than that. hehe

I know Toronto is more than that just seemed what lizzyboy wanted us to go see there :p - was just there beginning of the month and used to live near you Darr :p Unfortunately for some weird reason lots of people have this "Canada sucks" attitude and Michael seems to sometimes :/ We looked at cruises but not sure dad can use his points very well for that, but it's an idea.
