Would like to do Dojo Friday, May 12 th

Postby Kimbrethil » Wed May 10, 2006 11:23 pm

We'd like to try to do Dojo - for the tier 4 progression - on Friday at 10am Pacific Time, 1 pm East Coast, 6pm for Great Britain and 7 PM for the Nordic countries.

It's a 24 person mission, so guildies will come first, but if we need more --others will be ok.

It would be nice if we had a few people who have done it and know the strat. Also, I'm not sure how many items drop and if everyone who participates gets the Goblin Warlord Beads. If you know, please post.

Also, please post below if you think you'd like to join us so we have an idea of how many we'll get.

So far theres:
Me
Xamar
Patriciah
Xoshia
Kirth
Conno
Kasoo
Trans
Sky
Teone (maybe)

So come on guys let's get this one done!

Thanks Conno. Only reason I asked is because this is two hours before I need to be at work. I am not at this part of the progression yet  . I still need to get group and do "Sickening" or whatever its called to finally finish up tier 2  . I will help out on Friday to help those who need it get this part done.

IIRC the dojo drop is called mediation stones though, the warbeads drop from trial of perseverance.

It sucks that it is a 24 people mission and only 6 meditation stones drop. It means that even though you join you cannot count on getting the flag. I have done this mission a long time ago when the guild arranged it but it seems that that was the only time the guild ever did that.

It sucks doubly because being a 24 people event it is really not feasible to do it during
regular raid and outside of raid people are generally busy with this or that and it is hard to gather 24 people for the event. Hence the post kimbrethil made here in trying to rally enough people. Just be aware that you are not guaranteed to get the flag even if you join this time, I just hope that we can do it again other days and keep doing them until everyone has got those stones. Ditto for guardian of the sands and Yar'Lir. Yar'Lir is a 54 people task though and so can be done in regular raid - that is a plus.

I also happen to know that many people still struggle to get people to join them for Tier 3 and Tier 2 tasks and I wish we could do more illufun events where we try to get some progress through these tasks. On completing all tiers you get pretty nifty bonuses and abilities such as extra buff slots, higher resists etc and it sucks that some people in the guild do not have as good abilities as they could have had simply because these tasks are hard to get done because the way they are designed. 36 people raid is even problematic when there are 38 people joining us for raid and although we some times do get 36 people or slightly under, tasks with 24 people limit is just silly in my opinion.

In this respect tasks such as volklara and Yar'Lir is better in that they have a number of peeps that are closer to what we actually have in our raid force. The problematic ones are such as Dojo and Guardian of the Sands and Trial of Preserverance etc.

Some info about the Dojo.

First all raid zone in, do NOT enter the room. Entering the room will trigger the script so don't do that until everyone is ready. Upon entering the room there will be some chit chat and then 5 gobblins will attack the raid. They are disciple of Water, Earth, Fire, Air and Metal. One of them is mezzable, a chanter should keep him mezzed so that if people die while killing the other 4 we can rez people, med up and rebuff before killing the last. The point is that the next wave will start 2 mins after the last of these is killed so keeping the mezzed guy alive until everyone is ready is a good idea.

2 minutes after the last one of those 5 is killed 4 other goblins attack the raid. They are Master of Doubt, Deceit, Rage and Contentment. Same deal, one of them is mezzable and he should be kept mezzed for last.

3 minutes afte rthe last one of these 4 is killed 3 goblins attack the raid. They are Grandmaster Puma, Beetle and Snake. Same deal.

4 minutes after the last one of these 3 is dead, 2 goblins attack the raid. This is Silk and Steel. Silk is immune to spells and Steel is immune to melee. Neither of them are mezzable. Casters should kill Steel while melee should go on Silk.

In the end is 1 goblin, the big master himself Storm Reach Sensei. Kill him and the task is done. He drop 6 stones which can be distributed among the raid.

1. Since only 6 gets the stones you cannot count on getting the flag. There is a 25% chance that you get the flag and a 75% chance that you do not. Raid leader will also most likely give preference to those who are closest to completing tier 4 over those who are further behind so it is not completely random distribution.

2. It is a good idea to target the mobs, have each tank who is to kill a mob, target that mob before that wave start attacking and make sure you get aggro and get him away from the other tanks, casters and healers etc.

3. Need lots of healing support on this one both in the beginning when there are at least 4 tanks busy with a mob and they all need healing. It does not get easier as the gobs number drop down as the later waves have stronger gobs.

4. It is a good idea that the initial tank for each wave is a pally who just keep the mob stunned without damage until the chanter has figured out which one is mezzable. Once the mezzed one is found, the raid leave that mob alone and kill the others. Then rez and rebuff before killing the mezzed one. This way the raid is ready for next wave when it comes. Of course, if a given pally have for example Disciple of Earth on target and chanter is trying to mezz that gob and fail the pally can just start tanking him immediately but he should not damagte him before the chanter has tried. Once the chanter succeed in mezzing him that mob should be left mezzed and that tank should join one of the other tanks and assist him instead.

So, I would say we need at least 5 pallies (one for each of the 5 goblins in the first wave) and as many healers as possible - at least 3 and preferably much more. We need at least one chanter but I am sure that 2 or 3 chanters doesn't hurt either. A bard or 2 would also be a good idea. Other tanks and dps and others as are available.

You're right Conno, it is Meditation Stones, I was looking in the wrong spot on my printout. Thanks.

And good notes Xamar! I think you're right about how to distribute the stones. The raid leader will have to lotto them to those who are closest. Perhaps those of you who are signing up here, could list where you are in the progression? State whether you've finished tier 3 or not and what parts of tier 4 you still need, please.

Full Mains should get preference over alts and non-guildies. Since I'm not a full member yet, I probably won't be able to get in on the lotto, but I'm looking forward to doing this, and I'm willing to do it on Fridays a number of times until we get all our peeps hooked up with the Stone.

Speaking of Raid Leaders, do we have a volunteer?

Come on folks, let's get the rewards from this progression, it's worth it for all of us and the guild as a whole.

I don't know yet if I'll be on or what - it depends on Jarri's schedule really, but I will try if you need me and there's not enough other people. As for the drops, we did this after the perseverance trial I had set up a few weeks back and only 2 people didn't get parts, so there may not be that many in need as you would think. /shrug either way, as long as we have ot's then the event isn't so bad really - oh and a mezzer is super helpful!

Bah, arardorf, we need ya :) Drop that meeting with friend ;-)

JK - I hope to see you later on though. Yes, I plan to do this again and again until all have got who need as well as the other DoN missions and DoD spell missions etc.

Any chance that Deedo can join us? Both Deedo and ANti would be valuable members in the raid.

If arardorf is missing, is there other tanks who could step up and fill the shoes of our sturdy dorf? As previously said we need many tanks on this mission, in particular paladins who can keep the mob stunned until mezzer has had a chance to attempt to mezz them. However, other tanks such as warriors and shadowknights are also valuable especially to assist in killing once we figure out who is the mezzable one among them.

I don't know when Illu did Dojo earlier, I have only seen it up once and that was ages ago - it must have been while pat and I was in Taiwan perhaps? If only two people needed the stones then perhaps you chose a wrong time as it is appearant that many people still need them. True, some haven't finished DoN tier 3 yet but once all who are done with tier 3 has gotten their stones if there are any remaining stones they should be on free lotto so that such people can also get the stones. Letting stones rot indicates that you should perhaps not even bother with that trial at that point in time and rather done something that at least 6 people needed or however many droppable items drop. Sands have 9 essence of sand dropping as far as I know and so you should try to get at least 9 people who still lack the sand before going to the trial. True, eventually we will reach a state where perhaps most have except one or two slackers and then we might do a task so that those also can but if so we should be very sure that we do pick up all slackers and announce it ahead that this will most likely be last time in a long time that we will ever do that task.

Case in point, me and pat had originally plans to meet some friends this friday but we rearranged the schedule because we lack this stone and we are not sure when we get chance to do dojo next time. We hope it will be soon for those who still need but it is hard to tell. I am pretty sure that it will be more than 2 though who need the stone this time. Pat and I both lack and Kimbrethil lacks it and connovan also? That is 4 at least. Now, it is possible that all the other 20 have the stone already and that they are just there to help and that would be awfully nice of them if they did but I don't think it is likely. I am pretty sure that many of them also lack the stone and so we shuldn't have to let any stone rot.

As for raid leader - I am not sure what is required of a raid leader. I would assume that you should be experienced in the zone or at least have a fair grip of what to do - not only for your own class but also for other classes. I don't consider myself qualified in that respect but if nobody else steps up I guess I can be as I have at least done it once before. I would prefer that someone more experienced as raid leader took that job though. As it is primarily a guild raid I would also hope that some officer would join and if so, such an officer would be the natural candidate for the raid leader job.

EDIT: Bah, misread teone's post. It wasn't 2 people who got the stones and 4 stones rot, it was 2 people who wanted stone but did not get any, so 8 out of the raid force who wanted the stone. I hope those two can join this time if they haven't got stone already and I hope they can join even if they have gotten stone already.
